The Editor / Reporter Feature
With the availability of the "Publisher" membership level, the account holder can now delegate new item postings to others, in either of two ways:
1. Editor
By giving an editor password for a news feed to an individual ("editor"), that person can post news item onto that news feed, and edit or delete any items on that feed whether or not (s)he originally posted the item. Editors can also approve items posted by reporters to appear in the on-line feed. Each feed can have a different editor password (or none at all). The same password can be assigned to multiple
feeds. Beware that if the editor password for a feed is given to more than one individual, one editor can alter the work of another. That may be desirable or undesirable depending on your application.
2. Reporter
By giving a reporter password for a feed to individuals ("reporters"), those persons can post news items into your feed, but (1) they can edit or delete items only that (s)he originally posted, and (2) the item will not appear in the on-line feed until approved by the account holder or an editor assigned to the feed. Each feed can have a different reporter password (or
none at all). The same reporter password can be assigned to multiple feeds so that a reporter can use that one password to contribute to those multiple feeds. Reporters use the reporter password and a private PIN they select so they cannot alter each others submittals.
Editors and Reporters in combination
The account holder can assign both an editor password and a reporter password to a feed, to provide for a feed publishing system for organizations. For example, the account holder could set up a feed for each department in his/her organization. The department head could be editor, and members of the department could be reporters whose submissions require approval before appearing in the on-line feed. The account holder has complete control
over all the feeds just by using his/her account password.
How to set up your feed for Editor and/or Reporter Collaboration
When a feed is first created, the account holder can specify passwords for editors and reporters. Carefully assign those passwords to others who you wish to participate in posting items onto this feed.
Editor and reporter passwords can be specified after the feed is originated so the account holder need not make that decision when first creating a news feed.
How to keep track of passwords for Editors and Reporters
Go to "About My Account" and sign in with your Account Password. Then view feeds, and you will be presented with a list of feeds together with editor and reporter passwords, if any, for each feed.
