"North Cork Radio Group will be activating Blackrock Castle as part of CASHOTA on the 4th March next 2 - 5pm as EI1NC/P. The Castle's reference is EI009/C. We plan to have a digi station in operation as well as possible satellite contact on the day. If you happen to be in the area, are interested in the hobby, or would like to come and visit us, we would be happy to see you. For those of you that are CASHOTA chasers, we look forward to hearing you on the air!"
"North Cork Radio Group are pleased to announce that they will be activating Mizen Head Visitors Centre again this year for Marconi weekend. The callsign, EI0IMD, will be on the air from 20th April - 22nd April inclusive. As you may know, Marconi Day is on 21st April this year and we will be operating over the full 24 hour period on this day in order that collectors of the Marconi Award will have the opportunity to add us to their list. Mizen Head is a beautiful location and well worth a visit. "

Practical Wireless 80th Anniversary.

Practical Wireless is celebrating its 80 th anniversary this year. Rob Mannion G3FXD/EI5IW, Editor of PW, will be on the air from his home QTH with the callsign GB80PW on the second Thursday of each month, PW publication day, during 2012 on 7 and 14MHz mainly using s.s.b. and PSK31. Hours of operation will be from 1000 to 1600 UTC. Next Thursday, the 9 th, is the second Thursday in February so have a listen on 7 MHz. IRTS send best wishes to Practical Wireless on the occasion of its 80 th year of publication.

Titanic Anniversary.
The 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is being marked by several special event stations at ports associated with the ships maiden voyage. These include Belfast, Southampton, Cherbourg, Cobh, Cape Race, VO1MCE and a maritime mobile station, VE0MGY at the site of the sinking.
The special call sign EI100T has been issued for the year 2012 and Cork Radio Club members will operate the station from Cobh throughout the year.
The main event will happen over the weekend of April 13/14th and everyone is encouraged to visit the special event station over that weekend in Cobh.
