The National Cherry Festival, held annually in Traverse City, MI to celebrate the regions bountiful cherry crop will be held from July 5-12, 2008. Parades, entertainment, air shows by the US Navy Blue Angels and hundreds of other events make this festival a favorite among young and old and brings travelers in from near and far!
2008 Entertainment:
Joining the Gin Blossoms as Festival entertainment will be WAR, country singer James Otto, American Idol finalist Chris Sligh, 1964 The Tribute, and Think Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band.
Other announced highlights of NCF 2008, scheduled for July 5-12:
• Starting July 9, Idol Want To Be's of all ages can test their vocal chords in the first-ever 'Cherry Idol.' A handful of finalists will participate in the final round on the Bay Side Entertainment Stage July 12.
• In addition to their July 5 and 6 shows, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Army's Golden Knights parachute team will hold their first ever Twilight Airshow July 4 at 7:15, complementing the Grand Traverse Area Veterans' Coalition fireworks display over West Grand Traverse Bay.
• Michigan native Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund will serve as Grand Marshal of the 2008 DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade on July 12.
