The problem with "mass" emailing, and a preview of using feeds
The question comes up now and then about placing large email lists ("mass mailing") on the To: line of your personal email versus the Bcc: line. Here's what one informed person says about this on a forum, replying to a person recommending using the To: line:
All it takes is one person's computer to be infected with virus/malware and everyone is now harvested. That's what the Bcc: is for!
You are encouraged not to use mass emailings in this manner using your personal email, where "mass" can mean even just the membership of your club. If you receive such an email showing everyone's email address in plain view including yours (!), it would be a good idea to remind the sender of such email to use the Bcc: line.
Alternatives to email blasts using feeds will be offered in the SBR Clubs 2.0 system (and in fact are being used by some clubs already). Stay tuned.
By the way, the message you are now reading is an item in a feed -- "clubsitenews" -- that is embedded on this page.
