About Newsfeed and Gallery formats and image size
FeedBack ( 0) UPDATE -- Enfeedia supports two formats for news feed presentation, "newsfeed" and "gallery". Also, Enfeedia give you control over the display size of an image associated with the item, "actual size" and "thumbnail size".
The "newsfeed" format is the most common and is the default. It's used for time-sensitive announcements. The "gallery" format is used to present a series of items that are not time specific; as example, consider a feed used to present a collection of art with each item being one art piece (and with each item potentially including a PayPal button for that piece). The difference in presentation is in regards to the publishing date. With the "newsfeed" format, the publishing date is included in the item display, whereas with the "gallery" format, the publishing date is suppressed.
You can specify that the OnSite display of a feed is one format whereas the NewsPage display of the feed is the other -- but typically you'd select the same format for both. When you request a code snippet for OnSite display, you are given the option as to which format you want. Similarly, when you select the stylization of your NewsPage, you are given the option as to which format you want.
In addition, you can control the size of the image (if any) associated with an item, to be either "actual size" or "thumbnail size". Unlike "gallery" vs "newsfeed" formats, the image size selection applies to both OnSite display and NewsPage display of a feed. When you select the image choice for your NewsPage, it applies to both the NewsPage display as well as the OnSite display of the feed. The image size selection you make is actually coded in the newsfeed file which means other feed readers will "see" your selection as well.
The expected typical use of these controls is that newsfeeds will include dates and thumbnail size images whereas galleries will exclude dates and include actual size images. But the choice is yours.
If you select "actual size", you must be cautious to include images whose size is compatible with the space provided for the feed to be displayed.
At the time of writing this, the thumbnail horizontal size is 120 pixels, with the height adjusted to preserve the aspect ratio. If your picture is smaller than that, the picture will actually be enlarged such that you may see a poor resolution image.
Please note that the above describes how Enfeedia displays a feed (either OnSite or as a separate NewsPage). How other news readers present dates and images is dependent on their design.
