Remember to include contact information or refer the viewer to a website when posting an item
FeedBack ( 0) When posting an item, it's easy to get immersed in your message and forget to include some contact information or a link to your website. Of course, you are not required to; you could just be posting information without asking the reader to take any action. But if you do want the reader to do something about your message -- for example, to visit your website -- then you need to make sure you include the URL for the website somewhere in your item.
The easiest way is to specify the website address as Item Link. The Item Title will then be made into a text link that, when clicked, opens the website page. But be sure to include a Title! It's optional, but if one is not specified, then there would be no text to be made into a text link.
Alternatively, one can include a website address within the Item Description. By spelling out the complete URL -- including the http:// part -- Enfeedia will convert it into a link (and will drop out the http:// part in the text.
A more clever way is to put descriptive text in the Item Description, like "My Great Website", and specify a link for that text. To do this, you need to be using Extended Mode posting (selected on the same screen that is used to select a feed for posting your item). The way to do this is to first enter that exact same text into the Specify A Text Link box, followed by a space. Then enter the URL surrounded by three tilda (~) characters. No need to remember this as instructions are provided in the left column adjacent to the Specify A Text Link section. You will even find a link to a YouTube video showing exactly how this is done.
Finally, you can obviously include an email address or a telephone number in the Item Description. Just be mindful of privacy issues that may be a factor for you.
