77 Road construction
enfeedia RSS feed publisher1/29/17. I'd avoid, for the time being, driving State 77 North of Winkelman (North of junction with State177). There is a construction delay and loose gravel. Sorry, I don't have info on when it's going to be completed. Ride Safe, Ernie

Roosevelt Lake
enfeedia RSS feed publisherOn Sunday, 10/16/16 the weather was great and we rode to the Lake House Grill (Boston Grill) near Roosevelt Lake. The lunch was good...even better cause we were hungry. We rode up via "77" and decided to go back through the canyon to Highway 79 and Florence. Scenic. No scooter problems and we got home about 2:30. A fun ride. Ernie

Kitt Peak Ride
enfeedia RSS feed publisherOn Sunday, 9/25/16 we rode to Kitt Peak National Observatory. A great time of year to take this ride. The ride getting to the observatory was not too hot, and the peak was not too cold.
The ride up the mountain side was very manageable..paved and the parking lot at the top was an easy-in and easy out. The sights of the lands below and the various huge telescopes were awesome.

We had brunch at Cindy Lou’s II cafe. Kind of a retro hot rod - MC cafe. A dream menu for a cardiologist needing business. Yum. I’d give it a Wolf rating of a 2.5 oil can on a 5 can scale.
Ride Safe: Ernie.

Ryan Field Brunch
enfeedia RSS feed publisherOn Sunday 9/18, Seven Riders on Five Bikes made the scenic ride to Todd's Restaurant at Ryan Airfield where we had brunch. The food was great and the trip through the Saguaro National Park via Picture Rocks Rd was amazing. It should be mentioned that we tried this trip several weeks ago, only to be turned back by an earlier monsoon rain that flooded part of the road. In this latter case we turned around and rode to the Coyote Cafe where, you guessed it, we had brunch.
Rides safe. Ernie Wolf, President, RRMC.

Patagonia Ride
enfeedia RSS feed publisherAugust 13 Patagonia Trip

On August 13th a new era was started in the Saddlebrooke Ranch Motocycle Club. This was the first time that no Harleys showed up. Not sure whether it was that Harleys don’t go in hot weather or their owners don’t go in hot weather. The “metrics” performed flawlessly on the way to Patagonia and we saw some awesomely green scenery undoubtedly provided by the monsoons.
BMW’s, Honda’s and Yamaha’s rule. Wonder how cool it will have to get before the Harleys show. Article by Steve LeBrecht (guess what he rides (:>)

Jerry's Restaurant, Globe
enfeedia RSS feed publisherJuly 17 Ride
Having looked closely at the weather report, the group felt that it was safe to ride to Jerry’s restaurant in Globe. The temperature had modified and was a relatively cool 96 degrees which isn’t too bad as long as one keeps moving. With a short stop in Winkelman, we arrived at Jerry’s still thinking with any luck we could be home before the rains came.
After a great breakfast we returned to Winkelman and, as it was getting hot, a few put on their evaporative vests. It was a good call as the sun was now out and even though the temperature wasn’t so bad, the sun made it uncomfortable without the vest.
Can’t wait for the next ride and dodging the monsoon rains.

Cattleman and Mt Lemmon rides
enfeedia RSS feed publisherRide: July, 3 Cattleman’s Café
July 3 was another ride put on by the Saddlebrooke Ranch Riders Motorcycle Club. This ride was to a restaurant, Cattleman’s Café, north of Marana. If you haven’t been to this restaurant you owe it to yourself to go. It is a working cattle auction house with genuine local people coming in for a breakfast before the auction starts. I guarantee if you are a male you will be the only one not wearing a cowboy hat.
The ride was a good one: not too hot, not much traffic. We returned to Saddlebrooke Ranch our usual way using Park Link Rd. This is a nice road with sweeping curves and even less traffic.

Ride: July, 10 Mt. Lemmon
OK, so it is getting hot and it is time to go to cooler temperatures. Where better than to Mt. Lemmon I’m always surprised to talk to someone from Saddlebrooke Ranch who hasn’t been up the mountain. What you will find there are three restaurants that I know of and really cool temperatures. A couple of years ago I remember that it was 51 degrees at the top of the mountain and 102 degrees down in Tucson. Where else can you find such a temperature difference within 30 miles?
I agree that getting to the base of the mountain is not the best of ride but once you start up the mountain the scenery is great and the roads are perfect for getting onto a rhythm of the many curves. The weather was warm to start and a perfect 73 degrees at the Iron Door Restaurant where we ate. The outdoor dining with the humming birds was a real treat. On the way back we spotted a really large group of cycles in one of the parking lots, and more on the road as we continued back to the102 heat. We went to the cooling vests at this point, which worked OK for the remainder of the ride.
If you get a chance come ride with us, we have some great rides planned.
Ride Safe,
Steve Lebrecht.
