This is a very simple gathering to celebrate the year when we will be turning "70." It leaves the rest of the weekend to plan other events with friends and family. Both the T-Bones and Royals will be in town. The World War I National Museum and Liberty Memorial have great exhibits. Many, many options for additional fun that weekend. See the "Events Calendar" on www.visitkc.com for more options and details.
Individuals from out of town please arrange for your own lodging.
Come and enjoy a gathering of classmates as we celebrate seven decades on this earth.
Hope to see you there!
Best regards, "SME62 Feet On The Ground" committee

SME/Olathe Game: Both 3-0; read about Darling at quarterback
FeedBack ( 0) Anyone planning on taking in the SME football game Thursday, September 20th, before the reunion, might get much more than your average high school game. East is now 3-0 in the Sunflower League and is getting great press. Their quarterback, Jordan Darling, is a senior transfer from Midway, Texas, and at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds is one of the best high school quarterbacks in the country. He has a commitment to play for KU next year, and Charlie Weis has high praise for him. SME head coach Chip Sherman came in 2009 to turn the football program around. East had last won Sunflower League championships in 1961, 1964 and 1966.
Darling’s family knew Coach Sherman from Texas, and Jordan made his choice to play for Sherman his senior year. Coach Sherman has had some health problems, and it was important for Darling to play for him.
The Kansas City Star ran an article 9-14-2012 saying that not only did SME have Darling and a powerful offense, but their strongest area is their defense. The article featured their four linebackers. Their opponent on Thursday is Olathe South, the Kansas 6A champion last year. Olathe South’s quarterback is Frank Seurer, whose father played quarterback for KU and the Chiefs. Seurer passed for 1800 yards last year and has led Olathe South to a 3-0 season so far.
The game is getting a strong buildup, and it would be good to arrive at least by 6:30. We will try to all sit together, and there will be an announcement that the class of 62 is in attendance.

SME / Olathe Football Game, Sept 20, 2012
FeedBack ( 1) Some more good news. Jack Matchette has been working with SME School Coordinator, Beth. He has been able to get a block of tickets to the SME-Olathe Football Game on September 20th next fall. We don't know the size of the block or the cost, but even if there is a charge it will probably be less than $10.00 per person.
If you wish to go, log in to the Class Page, find Jack Matchette's name in the list, and click it to send him an email.
This notice went to 270 email accounts, so don't procrastinate as we may only have 50 tickets. Jack will keep track of who wants tickets and keep us informed as to the time, place, etc.
This event is OPEN to every classmate and one guest, whether you are attending the Reunion or not, so if for some reason you cannot attend on Friday and Saturday, please consider this as an OPEN INVITATION to all.
Event: May 31, 2012
